Overview

The Security Rover will perform perimeter checks of Newfields’152-acre campus. To patrol and protect assigned property, promote, and enforce safety and security and act as a visible deterrent against irregular activity. Observe and protect Art Collection, Galleries, Gardens, our Guests, and Staff by reporting all unauthorized activity. This role will be cross trained to assist with the implementation of our safety screening process and basic Control room operations. They will embody the values at Newfields including stewardship, inclusivity, service, and excellence. This is an essential role that requires you to be onsite during closure or unforeseen incidents. The ideal candidate will work under general supervision; typically reports to a supervisor or manager.

Responsibilities

Patrol the buildings and grounds to prevent and report detrimental activity and to perform security and safety duties
Respond to requests for service including, but not limited to, unlocks, escorts, contractor escorts and gallery deployment
Serve as ‘Safety Officers’ on the Safety Committee
Conduct safety checks campus-wide
Position will require prolonged standing and walking
Support Control Room operations. Operate within FCC guidelines and regulations while transmitting on the radio.
Staff Employee Entrance when short-staffed
Staff Dock post, receive packages and sign in guests and contractors in accordance with proper procedures
Staff Oval entrance when short-staffed
Staff GT Service Gate when short-staffed for entrance validation, receiving, and contractor access.
Always maintain an appropriate and professional image: attire, hygiene, activities
Keep current on policies, procedures, and program changes
Post and rove in all interior spaces as well as outdoors as necessary, observing guests and art to deter any interaction or damage to art
Become familiar with daily operations to assist with opening and closing procedures
Perform lock and unlock procedures as requested
Ability to monitor guest flow through metal detectors to ensure order and efficiency.
Assist in inventory or inspection procedures as directed by supervisor
Staff in this position may become aware of private, personal, and sensitive information that should not and cannot be shared with others, unless cleared through Management
reliability and dependability
Able to react appropriately in emergency and high stress situations

Required Skills

Ability to read and comprehend directions, instructions, and memorandums. Ability to communicate effectively verbally.
Applicant must have a base level understanding of email handling to send, receive and communicate through electronic mail.
Applicant must have the ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondences, and memos. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers and other employees of the museum.
Ability to comprehend and understand detailed written or oral instructions. The ability to think critically and deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
Ability to access the internet and communicate through virtual trainings

Education and/or Experience

High school diploma or GED and 6-12 months prior field related and/or other job related experience.
