Job Summary
Provide security as outlined in the post orders and establish relationships with customers, law enforcement, and fire departments. Security personnel must perform duties with awareness of surroundings, noting all activity in the assigned area, maintaining a professional image, and demonstrating excellent customer service.
Basic Functions
Control entrances and manage pedestrian and vehicle traffic.
Patrol buildings and perimeters.
Escort materials and personnel.
Inspect security and fire exposures.
Perform special assignments as needed.
Responsibilities
Duties vary depending on department size, structure, location, and post assignments. Reasonable accommodations may be made for ADA requirements. General duties include:
Reporting to post on time in full uniform.
Greeting customers, visitors, and employees politely and professionally.
Staying updated on post orders and information from the customer and AFS.
Patrolling or remaining at a fixed post, reporting suspicious activity, and investigating incidents.
Monitoring cameras and equipment as per post orders.
Understanding emergency policies and procedures to respond effectively.
Completing reports such as Daily Activity Reports, Log Book entries, and Incident Reports.
Recommending safety and loss prevention improvements.
Knowing the operation of safety systems, fire panels, CCTV, and access controls.
Ensuring training and compliance guidelines are followed.
Communicating security issues or changes to the Security Supervisor daily.
