Workdays & Hours*: Shift work; days, evening, and night shifts, including a rotating schedule***weekends and holidays***(Subject to change)PURPOSE OF DIVISIONThe purpose of the Airport Security business unit is to provide a safe and secure environment at William P. Hobby Airport for passengers and employees. The business unit is responsible for Transportation Security Administration (TSA) regulatory compliance. Airport Security will also support and assist Airside and Landside Operations, along with other business units as needed.

PURPOSE OF THE POSITIONThe purpose of this position is to ensure all TSA regulatory requirements are met on each assigned shift. The Airport Security Coordinator (ASC) responds to TSA inquiries and interacts with TSA investigators, airline supervisors, and Houston Police Department (HPD) Officers and Supervisors. The position will be part of the unified command group during airport emergencies. The position manages ID badging, access control, permitting, enforcement, and compliance of security functions of William P. Airport according to the Airport Security Plan based on TSA regulatory requirements. This includes implementing work plans based on HAS objectives; resolve citizen, operational, and management issues. The ASC achieves goals, while ensuring resources are utilized appropriately. The ASC contributes to the safe, secure, and efficient operations of the airport through leadership and management of the airport’s security team. The ASC position is operationally and/or functionally focused and is generally responsible for supervising front individual contributors.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:Maintains a safe and secure airport environment by coordinating security matters with the Transportation Security Administration (TSA), airlines, airport tenants and staff, and emergency relief organizations. Designs, plans, and tests response procedures to ensure the effective mobilization of protective, safety, and relief services for the airport in security related emergencies of disasters. Reviews airport security programs, security directives, and airport tenant activities for compliance with airport and federal regulations. Manages day-to-day security operations.

Identifies and anticipates operational, safety and security concerns by inspecting airport facilities and operating areas and monitoring radio communications. Initiates corrective actions and counsel’s airport users, tenants, and employees.

Creates, revises, and implements operating rules, regulations, standards, and procedures to ensure airport safety. Monitors deviations from federal, state and airport operating rules and regulations.

Supervises, schedules, assigns work, trains, and evaluates ID Badging/Security employees. Performs operations activities and initiates corrective action for failure to comply with 49 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) Part 1500, the airport security program or other security directives. ?Reviews and monitors the results of access investigations required under CFR Part 1500.?

Initiates corrective actions and counsel’s airport users, tenant, and airline activities not in compliance with airport leases, contracts, standards, policies, and procedures.?
