Job Description
We are seeking a professional Armed Security Officer to provide comprehensive lobby security services at our Educational Support Center in Sanford, FL. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring the safety and security of all personnel, visitors, and property while maintaining a welcoming and professional atmosphere.
Schedule
School Year: Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM
Summer Break: Monday through Thursday, 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM
Additional hours may be requested for special events or district-related activities
Key Responsibilities
Monitor and manage lobby area access control and visitor management
Operate and monitor district-approved weapon screening equipment (OpenGate detectors)
Verify SCPS badges and prevent entry of prohibited items
Conduct routine building and perimeter security sweeps
Monitor front entryway, parking lot, and building interior
Respond to and manage emergency situations
Prepare and submit daily activity and incident reports
Maintain and monitor security equipment, including cameras and access control systems
Provide immediate notification of security breaches or emergencies
Perform regular security equipment functionality checks
Required Qualifications
Valid state-required armed security officer license
Compliance with all applicable state and federal security licensing requirements
Clean background check
Strong attention to detail and vigilance
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Professional demeanor and customer service orientation
Ability to remain calm and effective in emergency situations
Physical Requirements
Ability to remain alert and active during 12-hour shifts
Capability to respond quickly to security situations
Ability to perform regular security sweeps of the facility
Performance Expectations
Maintain highest standards of professionalism and efficiency
Demonstrate courtesy and vigilance at all times
Provide timely and accurate reporting
Effectively manage access control and visitor management
Show prompt responsiveness to emergencies and incidents
Strictly comply with all security protocols and procedures
