General Description

The Assistant Facility Security Officer (AFSO) will maintain our comprehensive security program within the company, ensuring compliance with government regulations and safeguarding classified information under the direction of the FSO.

This position will also support and assist the FSO/Safety Manager in the administration of the company’s safety policy through periodic safety audits, training, hazard tracking, and file maintenance.

duties and responsibilities

Maintain company and employee security files in accordance with (IAW) National Industrial Security Program Manual (NISPOM), DoD 5220.22-M and other Department of Defense (DoD) guidance.
Notify the FSO or the company President/Board members of noncompliance with NISPOM or other applicable DoD security guidance.
Maintain a schedule for the completion of all FSO and AFSO tasks and inspections required by the NISPOM.
Assist with identifying, assessing, and mitigating risks posed IAW the company’s Insider Threat Program.
Report to the Atlanta Field Office of the Defense Security Service (DSS) or the DoD Inspector General Hotline if necessary.
Participate in DSS Security Vulnerability Assessments (SVA) of the company and assist in the resolution of discrepancies.
Create, maintain, and update company and employee security clearances within mandated systems such as the Joint Personnel Adjudication System (JPAS), Secure Web Fingerprint Transmission (SWFT), and Electronic Facility Clearance System (e-FCL) programs.
Prepare visit requests for classified visits to other cleared facilities.
Initiate and track progress of required employee and contractor personnel security investigations and reinvestigations.
Periodically review employee completion of required security and safety training with Human Resources. Ensure content is up to date.
Store, inventory, distribute, transmit, and destroy, as needed, classified information in support of classified contracts.
Assist in the management of the company COMSEC keying material supporting multiple DoD contracts.
Attend local events, obtain industry memberships, etc., as requested by the FSO.
Assist in preparation for security and safety program audits and remediation of deficiencies.
Assist in the administration of the Aviation Emergency Response Plan.
Conduct security and safety self-inspections, track hazard reporting, and report audit results to the Safety Manager.
Other duties assigned by the Facility Security Officer/Safety Manager.

skills, competencies, education, certification, and/or licensure requirements

High School diploma or equivalent required. A degree in a related field or experience in Security, Safety, or Aviation, preferred.
Must be able to obtain a security clearance.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
Must have excellent MS Office skills.
The ideal candidate will have prior experience with DoD Industrial Security/NISPOM matters.
Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills to manage complex security tasks.
Must possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills to be able to interact with all levels of personnel, internal and external.
Strong understanding of government security regulations, particularly NISPOM a plus.
Experience with security clearance processes and procedures a plus.
Ability to conduct investigations and analyze security risks
