Securiguard maintains a highly trained Canine (K-9) division that is certified in narcotic and explosive detection as well as canine protection patrols. Developed for high-risk situations. Securiguard K-9 is Canada’s largest private security K-9 provider, and our teams work in major land, sea, and air transportation hubs, arenas and industrial sites keeping people and property safe. We are rapidly expanding and are looking for dedicated people to join our team.

Our K-9 teams are geared for rapid response resourcing to assist our clients with unique challenges in camps, airports, cruise ships, trucking and shipping environments. Our K9 Detection teams are trained to the highest standards in Canada by our law enforcement partners. Our K-9 Division has trained with Canadian municipal and federal law enforcement, as well as in the United States with FBI, Homeland Security and State Police.

Currently we are recruiting for K9 Handlers to join our team of certified professionals. You must love dogs as your number one passion and have a strong desire to contribute to public safety. Have you always dreamed of working a job with just you and your dog? Here is your opportunity.

Must have experience owning and caring for dogs. Former military (MWD) and law enforcement (PSD) handlers welcomed, but prior experience is not necessary. We are an elite unit that hires based on positive attitude, K-9 aptitude, and desire to be a part of something special.

Location: Vancouver – Lowermainland BC

Job Duties:

Actively attend all sites required with your K9 partner – perform Detection sweeps with K9 of client facilities and cargo

Provide excellent customer service with a continual focus on client and community relations.

Care for the designated K9 as per provincial, federal and Securiguard rules/regulations.

Assist and respond to any calls by the K9 Operations Manager for additional service as required.

Providing Excellent Customer Services

Coordinating & Liaising with Police and other Emergency Services Providers as Required

Providing detailed reports including reports including occurrence reports, incident reports as required.

Reporting and documenting any safety hazards to the Operations Managers

Explosive or Narcotics Detection

Requirements:

Valid Provincial Security License

Valid Full Drivers License with a Clean Drivers Abstract

The ability to work outside during inclement weather

Ability to acquire and maintain Transportation Security Clearance, and Transportation of Dangerous goods

Excellent Communication Skills (Both Verbal and Written)

Strong Attention to Detail

24/7 Availability

Previous Security experience or equivalent life experience

Desire and Passion to work with Dogs

Commitment to a paid 3 month K9 Training Program

Safe Vehicle to Transport a K9

The ability to take care of K9 after hours and live in a friendly environment for a dog

Ability to travel for work and/or certifications

Physically fit and able to pass a physical test

Additional Information:

House and vehicle inspection will be required by management
