SUMMARY

MCAD is seeking a Campus Safety Officer for the Swing Shift. This position ensures a safe and secure campus environment while providing high-quality customer service as part of the Campus Safety Team. Duties are performed in accordance with laws and college policies. The officer must be sensitive to college needs, fostering goodwill and maintaining MCAD’s brand reputation.

Details: This is a full-time, non-exempt role, working 40 hours weekly (Thursday – Monday, 8 pm – 4 am). Reports to the Director of Campus Safety. Compensation is $20.00/hour plus applicable shift differentials.

Primary Responsibilities

Provide customer service and build relationships with students, staff, faculty, and guests.

Communicate effectively with community members and visitors, responding promptly and professionally.

Patrol campus premises, monitor for incidents, and report irregularities.

Respond to calls and emergencies with tact and judgment.

Familiarize with campus policies and relevant laws.

Monitor safety systems and escalate issues when necessary.

Document incidents accurately and securely handle lost and found items.

Enforce parking regulations.

Be available outside normal hours to support campus operations, especially during events.

Perform additional duties as assigned, representing MCAD’s values and fostering inclusivity.

Requirements

Education & Experience:

High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree preferred.

Valid driver’s license required.

Experience in customer service and proficiency with Microsoft Office required.

Availability for after-hours and weekend work required.

First Aid and CPR certification preferred.

Training in de-escalation, self-defense, security, or law enforcement preferred.

Previous security experience, especially in a college setting, is a plus.

Environment: Work primarily on campus grounds, occasionally outdoors in weather conditions, with the need for flexible hours including nights and weekends. Use of standard office equipment and tools is required. Reasonable accommodations will be provided to support job performance.
