About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced Interim Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) to lead and enhance our organization’s cybersecurity strategy and governance. This role is a hybrid position, requiring a presence in the Greater Chicago, IL area, and offers the potential for a contract-to-hire conversion.
As the Interim CISO, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing our cybersecurity policies, ensuring compliance with industry standards, and mitigating security risks across the enterprise. You will work closely with executive leadership, IT teams, and business units to protect the organization’s information assets and enhance security resilience.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and execute a comprehensive information security strategy aligned with business goals.
Lead and manage enterprise-wide security programs, including risk management, incident response, and compliance initiatives.
Oversee security architecture, ensuring systems, networks, and applications are protected against evolving threats.
Provide strategic guidance on cybersecurity best practices and emerging trends.
Collaborate with IT and business leaders to assess security risks and implement mitigation strategies.
Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001, SOC 2, HIPAA, GDPR).
Lead security awareness training and foster a culture of cybersecurity across the organization.
Manage and respond to security incidents, working with internal teams and external partners as needed.
Evaluate and recommend security technologies and vendor solutions.
Qualifications:
Must have experience working in a large, enterprise-level organization with complex IT and security infrastructures.
10+ years of experience in cybersecurity, risk management, and IT security leadership.
Strong knowledge of security frameworks (NIST, CIS, ISO 27001) and regulatory requirements.
Hands-on experience with cloud security (AWS, Azure, GCP), network security, and endpoint protection.
Expertise in security operations, threat intelligence, and incident response.
Experience working with executive leadership and board members to communicate security risks and strategies.
CISSP, CISM, CISA, or similar certifications preferred.
Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Global cybersecurity experience and/or experience in a manufacturing environment is a plus.
Additional Details:
Location: Hybrid – Must be located in or willing to commute to the Greater Chicago, IL area.
Contract Type: Interim with the potential for contract-to-hire conversion.
