Make a difference! Operated by the Management & Training Corporation, the Bluebonnet Detention Center in Anson, Texas, provides a safe working environment while helping non-citizens gain valuable skills and treatment necessary for success upon release.
What you’ll do: You’ll supervise the lieutenants, and gang intelligence officer. Responsible for the overall management of security functions in compliance with Management & Training Corporation (MTC) and customer directives.
Essential Functions:
Plan, coordinate and direct the security functions for the facility.
Provide staff training, evaluate staff performance and implement organizational and personnel changes as approved by the deputy warden and coordinated with the manager, human resources prior to implementation.
Assist the deputy warden in the preparation of facility budget; monitor and control expenditures.
Develop and implement new and revised policies, procedures and programs affecting security.
Direct procedures and practices relating to the training and security of detainees and staff; maintain constant vigilance of staff assignments to ensure adherence to policies, rules and /regulations.
Supervise staff assignments for security functions.
Required to make regular rounds of the facility that requires long periods of walking and standing.
Regular attendance is required.
Perform functions of the duty officer as assigned.
Review report preparation for hearings and permanent records of detainees and monitor their rehabilitative prospects.
Assist in staff selection process, ensuring compliance with applicable local and federal regulations and MTC directives.
Promote the development of positive social skills through modeling appropriate behaviors and intervening when inappropriate behaviors are observed. Provide regular feedback to staff regarding social skills procedures and intervention techniques.
Maintain accountability of staff, detainees and property; adhere to safety practices.
It is expected that the incumbent shall perform other duties as assigned within his/her capabilities as determined by management.
Education and Experience Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in correctional management, criminal justice, public/business administration, education, counseling or other related field, and five (5) years related experience, three (3) of which must be in supervisory capacity required. Directly related experience may be considered in lieu of formal education requirements if approved by management. Must successfully complete the required preservice training. Valid driver’s license in the state of Texas with an acceptable driving record required, unless waived by management.
