Job Description
: The Construction Security Manager (CSM) is responsible for overseeing the security aspects of construction projects, particularly those involving sensitive or classified environments. This role ensures that security measures comply with government regulations and industry best practices, safeguarding personnel, materials, and information throughout the construction lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
Security Oversight: Implement and enforce security protocols for construction projects, ensuring compliance with DoD, USAF, and federal security regulations.
Site Security Management: Establish and manage access control, visitor management, and surveillance systems for secure construction sites.
Risk Assessment & Mitigation: Conduct security risk assessments, identify vulnerabilities, and develop mitigation strategies to ensure the protection of classified materials and infrastructure.
Compliance & Coordination: Work closely with military and government officials, ensuring all security measures align with applicable standards such as TS/SCI and SAP/SAR requirements.
Personnel Security: Ensure all personnel working on-site meet security clearance requirements and receive appropriate training regarding classified construction operations.
Incident Response: Develop emergency response plans and coordinate with relevant authorities in case of security breaches, threats, or incidents.
Training & Awareness: Conduct security training sessions for construction workers, subcontractors, and other personnel involved in secure construction environments.
Documentation & Reporting: Maintain detailed records of security measures, incidents, and compliance activities, preparing reports for project stakeholders and government agencies.
Coordination with Engineering & Project Management Teams: Collaborate with civil engineers, program managers, and facility planners to integrate security requirements into the design and execution of construction projects.
Qualifications & Requirements
Education: Bachelor’s degree in security management, construction management, criminal justice, or a related field preferred. Equivalent military or federal security experience is acceptable.
Experience:
Minimum of 5 years of experience in construction security, military security, or federal facility security management.
Experience with DoD or other government agency security requirements for classified construction projects.
Certifications:
TS/SCI clearance (required); SAP/SAR eligibility preferred.
Certified Construction Security Manager (CCSM) or Facility Security Officer (FSO) certification is a plus.
Technical Skills:
Knowledge of security technologies such as surveillance systems, access control, and alarm systems.
Familiarity with construction project management and civil engineering processes.
Soft Skills:
Strong leadership and problem-solving skills.
Ability to communicate effectively with government agencies, contractors, and security personnel.
Excellent organizational and analytical skills.
