Corporate Counsel, Health Privacy & Security – Join Our Team at Amazon Legal
As a Corporate Counsel for Health Privacy & Security at Amazon Legal, you will support our healthcare privacy and security efforts, with a focus on HIPAA and state consumer privacy compliance. In this role, you will serve as a partner and trusted advisor to our privacy and security compliance teams, leading the development of creative, business-centric strategies. You will also have the opportunity to work with a dynamic and diverse team, and contribute to the overall mission of making it easier for customers to find, choose, afford, and engage with the services, products, and professionals they need to get and stay healthy.
Key Responsibilities:
– Direct investigations and advise on policy development for Amazon Health’s Privacy Office
– Counsel product development teams on privacy and security compliance
– Help build a culture of privacy and security by design
– Develop processes to address risk and allow for business flexibility
– Demonstrate sound judgment in ambiguous situations
– Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams
About Our Team:
– Supports the privacy and security compliance teams within Amazon’s consumer health organization
– Open to hiring candidates to work out of one of three locations: Arlington, VA; New York City, NY; or Seattle, WA
Basic Qualifications:
– . degree and membership in good standing in at least one state bar
– 5+ years of post-qualification legal experience
– Experience in legal issues central to US healthcare data privacy and security, including HIPAA
Preferred Qualifications:
– 3+ years of experience in a top national or international law firm
– In-house experience is a plus
– Ability to work independently and contribute to cross-functional teams
– Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects
– Familiarity with market location and job-related knowledge, skills, and experience

Compensation Details:
Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $123,100/year in our lowest geographic market up to $229,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. In addition to competitive pay, Amazon offers a total compensation package that may include equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation, as well as a full range of medical, financial, and other benefits.
