Description of Work
This position is located at Craggy Correctional Center in Asheville, NC. It is a minimum and medium custody facility for male offenders. The role involves first-line supervision of Correctional Officer I and II staff, overseeing custody, security, and inmate welfare. Employees assign work schedules, implement procedures, and ensure compliance with rules and regulations. At times, employees may be the highest-ranking staff on-site or Officer-in-Charge (OIC).
Reporting to a Correctional Lieutenant I and/or Correctional Assistant Superintendent.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs):
Candidates must demonstrate knowledge of Facility Operations and Prison Policies and Procedures. Resumes alone are not sufficient; all relevant
education
and experience must be detailed in the application.
To qualify, applicants must have:
High School diploma or GED
Two years of experience as a correctional officer, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Must be eligible for certification by the North Carolina Criminal Justice Education & Training Standards Commission.
