Duties

During their careers, special agents perform assignments in investigations and protection, often at multiple duty stations across the U.S. and abroad.

Duties include:

Providing protection for various protectees.

Conducting criminal investigations related to the financial obligations of the United States.

Planning and executing security arrangements for National Special Security Events.

Requirements

U.S. citizenship is required.

Possess a valid driver’s license.

Carry and use a firearm; maintaining firearm proficiency is mandatory.

Be at least 21 years old at application and less than 37 at the time of receiving a conditional job offer, unless prior federal law enforcement service applies. Veteran’s preference applicants must receive a conditional offer before age 40.

Obtain and retain a Top Secret Clearance.

Visual acuity of no worse than 20/100 binocular uncorrected, corrected to 20/20 or better.

Hearing loss must not exceed 25 decibels in either ear in specified ranges.

Undergo drug testing before appointment and random testing thereafter.

Complete 13 weeks of training at FLETC in Glynco, GA, and 18 weeks at the James J. Rowley Training Center in Laurel, MD.

Willingness to accept assignments anywhere within the U.S. and abroad.

Register with the Selective Service System or be exempt, if applicable.
