Duties
Special agents carry out investigations and protection duties, often assigned to multiple duty stations across the U.S. and abroad.
Responsibilities include:
Providing protection for various protectees.
Conducting criminal investigations related to the financial obligations of the United States.
Planning and executing security designs for National Special Security Events.

Requirements
U.S. citizenship is required.
Possess a valid driver’s license.
Carry and use a firearm; firearm proficiency is mandatory.
Be at least 21 years old at application and less than 37 at the time of a conditional job offer, unless prior federal law enforcement service qualifies you for age exceptions. Applicants with veteran’s preference must receive a conditional offer before age 40 to continue.
Obtain and maintain a Top Secret Clearance.
Have uncorrected visual acuity no worse than 20/100 binocular, with corrected 20/20 or better in each eye.
Hearing loss must not exceed 25 decibels in specified frequency ranges.
Pass a drug test prior to appointment and undergo random drug testing during employment.
Complete 13 weeks of intensive training at FLETC in Glynco, GA, and 18 weeks at the James J. Rowley Training Center in Laurel, MD.
Be willing to accept assignments anywhere within the U.S. and overseas, as per a mobility agreement.
Register with the Selective Service System if required, or be exempt.
