Duties
Special agents carry out investigations and protective assignments across the U.S. and abroad.
Responsibilities include:
Providing protection for various protectees.
Conducting criminal investigations related to the financial obligations of the United States.
Planning and executing security for National Special Security Events.

Requirements
U.S. citizenship is required.
Possess a valid driver’s license.
Carry and use a firearm; firearm proficiency is mandatory.
Be at least 21 years old at application and less than 37 at conditional job offer, unless previous federal law enforcement service qualifies you for age exceptions. Veterans’ preference applicants must receive a conditional offer before age 40.
Obtain and maintain a Top Secret Clearance.
Uncorrected visual acuity no worse than 20/100 binocular; corrected acuity of 20/20 or better.
Hearing loss must not exceed 25 decibels in key frequency ranges.
Undergo drug testing before appointment and random testing during employment.
Complete 13 weeks of training at FLETC in Glynco, GA, and 18 weeks at the James J. Rowley Training Center in Laurel, MD.
Willingness to accept assignments nationwide and overseas.
Register with the Selective Service System or be exempt if male and born after December 31, 1959.
