This is an INTERNAL POSTING open ONLY for current NC Dept. of Public Safety employees and eligible NC Dept. of Public Safety RIF candidates. Temporary employees are eligible to apply.This position oversees all aspects of the Current Operations Branch, including Cyber Hygiene Assessments, Penetration Testing, Threat Hunting, Open-source Information Analysis, and Incident Response Missions. This position ensures both the Penetration Testing Team and the North Carolina Assessment and Assistance Team are manned, trained, and equipped to support defensive cyber operations missions. The Manager serves as a member or leader on collaborative cross-functional cyber teams. This position will ensure all appropriate State and Department of Defense Information Network (DODIN) regulations are followed and all members of the Cyber Hygiene Division are operating in the correct legal authorities. This position will be responsible for developing and enforcing training plans, continuing education, and certifications to ensure the Cyber Hygiene Division meets the required baseline qualifications for employees to work on multiple networks. This position will manage and enforce equipment and license tracking. The incumbent will serve as Subject Matter Expert offensive cyber operations, to including penetration testing, adversary tactics, techniques, and procedures, as well as current threat landscape and communicating that to key stakeholders throughout the organization. The manager will provide technical recommendations to agencies based on cyber hygiene analysis that prioritizes areas of improvement based on risk to the environment and resource availability and monitor emerging technology to analyze and evaluate the use cases and provide feedback to senior leaders on operational impacts and security concerns surrounding the technology.North Carolina National Guard’s Cyber Team provides continuous cyber support to the State’s critical infrastructure, networks, and data from cyber threats by providing responsive and effective cybersecurity capabilities. NCNG partners with State, Local, Tribal, and Territorial organizations to provide proactive and reactive assistance to ensure critical assets are protected and secured against malicious actors. NCNG’s cyber team provides superior cyber defense and security capabilities in order to protect our nation’s critical infrastructure and assets. NCNG will leverage the team’s expertise, agility, and readiness to detect, prevent, and respond to cyber threats in support of federal agencies and our country’s cybersecurity posture.This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with State Benefits. Note to Current State Employees:The salary grade for this position is DT12. State employees are encouraged to apply for positions of interest even if the salary grade is the same as, or lower than, their current position. If selected for this position, a new salary will be recalculated taking into consideration the quantity of relevant education and experience, funding availability, and internal equity. Based upon these factors, a pay increase MAY result.
