Description
The JSU-ERDC-Critical Infrastructure Cyber Protection (CICP) at Jackson State University is seeking a research associate within the area of cyber security to work closely with JSU research faculty members, scientists, analysts, and students. The work provides research in the areas of cyber security, computational and data enabled sciences, computer and electrical engineering that focus on modeling cyberspace related to protecting critical infrastructure (cyber warfare and security). Additionally, this effort requires identifying and applying appropriate machine learning techniques to evaluate and analyze cyber infrastructure and cyber protection research methodologies, and to identify and apply appropriate machine learning techniques to evaluate research data.
Examples of Duties
Develop scientific software algorithms using advanced mathematics and digital signal processing techniques to support cyber infrastructure and cyber protection research projects.
Identify and apply appropriate machine learning techniques to evaluate research data.
Assimilate scientific data from research findings and analyze results.
Provide analysis of cyber security systems on complex models.
Analyze problems, define potential solutions, and conduct in-depth technical analysis.
Prepare technical reports and prepare and present technical briefs.
Typical Qualifications
BS/MS – Three (3) years of related work experience.
MS/PhD – in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Data Science, or a related field.
Working knowledge of a scientific programming language such as Python, R, or C.
Experience with relational databases.
Experience with cyber security technologies
Observational experience processing and interpreting time series and frequency domain datasets, including the ability to distinguish signals from noise.
Demonstrated proficiency in developing algorithms using advanced applied mathematics on large data sets.
Demonstrated expertise with data processing techniques and statistical analysis.
Ability to assimilate scientific data from research findings and analyze results.
Ability to provide analysis of cyber security systems on complex models.
Technical skills to understand and analyze problems, define potential solutions, and conduct in-depth technical analysis.
Demonstrated experience preparing technical reports and preparing and presenting technical briefings.
Demonstrated proficiency with scientific analysis software such as Matlab and Python.
Demonstrated experience with the use of a scripting computer language.
Ability to work in a team environment and as a self-starter, excellent oral, and written communication skills.
Working knowledge of Windows and Unix/Linux operating systems.
Working knowledge of a scientific programming language such as Python, R, or C.
