Role Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Cybersecurity Architect to join our established financial services firm specializing in trading applications. This role is critical in designing, implementing, and managing robust cybersecurity frameworks to protect sensitive data, ensure compliance with regulatory standards, and safeguard trading platforms against evolving cyber threats.

The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise across multiple domains of cybersecurity, including network security, application security, cloud security, endpoint security, governance, risk and compliance (GRC), data security, and incident response.

Key Responsibilities

1. Network Security

Design and implement secure network architectures leveraging Zero Trust principles.

Oversee the deployment of firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS), and VPNs to protect trading platforms.

Continuously monitor network traffic for anomalies and potential threats.

2. Application Security

Conduct security assessments of trading applications to identify vulnerabilities.

Collaborate with development teams to integrate secure coding practices (DevSecOps).

Ensure the protection of APIs and web applications through advanced threat detection and mitigation techniques.

3. Cloud Security

Develop and enforce cloud security strategies for multi-cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP).

Implement identity and access management (IAM) policies to control access to cloud resources.

Monitor cloud environments for misconfigurations and unauthorized activities.

4. Endpoint Security

Deploy endpoint protection platforms (EPP) and endpoint detection and response (EDR) solutions.

Ensure secure configurations of all endpoints, including desktops, laptops, and mobile devices.

Establish policies for encryption, remote wiping, and device authentication.

5. Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC)

Develop and maintain security policies aligned with regulatory requirements such as GDPR, DORA, ISO 27001.

Conduct risk assessments to identify gaps in compliance and recommend mitigation strategies.

Prepare the organization for audits by ensuring adherence to industry standards.

6. Data Security

Implement data encryption (at rest and in transit), masking, and access controls to safeguard sensitive information.

Design backup solutions that ensure data availability and integrity.

Monitor data residency requirements for cross-border data transfers.

7. Incident Response and Recovery

Develop incident response plans to detect, contain, and recover from cyber incidents with minimal impact.

Conduct regular tabletop exercises to test the effectiveness of disaster recovery (DR) and business continuity (BC) strategies.

Provide post-incident analysis to improve organizational resilience.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; advanced degrees preferred.

8+ years of experience in cybersecurity roles with a focus on architecture in financial services.

Certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CCSP, or TOGAF are highly desirable.

Skills & Competencies

Strong knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks like NIST CSF, ISO 27001/27002.

Expertise in cryptography, secure network design, application security testing tools (e.g., SAST/DAST), and cloud-native security solutions.

Ability to balance business needs with cybersecurity requirements while ensuring compliance with regulations.

Exceptional communication skills for cross-functional collaboration with technical teams and business stakeholders.
