Purpose
The Data Protection Lead is responsible for ensuring the OMRANs compliance with data protection laws and regulations, safeguarding sensitive data, and implementing policies and procedures to enhance data privacy and security. This role involves overseeing data governance, assessing risks related to data processing, and fostering a culture of privacy awareness across OMRAN and its subsidiaries. The Data Protection Lead serves as the primary point of contact for regulatory authorities and internal stakeholders on data protection matters.
Responsibilities
Develop, implement, and maintain the OMRAN’s data protection policies and procedures.
Ensure compliance with relevant data protection laws (e.g., Omani Data Protection Law, GDPR, international privacy regulations).
Monitor changes in data protection regulations and assess their impact on OMRAN.
Serve as the main liaison with regulatory authorities and legal bodies regarding data protection compliance
Conduct regular risk assessments to identify and mitigate data protection risks.
Oversee Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) for projects involving personal data processing.
Work with IT, legal, and business units to implement data protection controls.
Ensure that data collection, storage, processing, and sharing comply with legal and regulatory requirements.
Monitor third-party data processing activities to ensure compliance with contractual and legal obligations.
Collaborate with cybersecurity teams to enhance data security measures.

Develop and implement procedures for responding to data breaches and security incidents.
Investigate data breaches, coordinate response efforts, and report incidents to regulators as required.
Ensure lessons learned from incidents are integrated into improved data protection measures.
Develop and deliver data protection training programs for employees.
Promote a culture of data privacy awareness across all levels of the organization.
Provide guidance to employees on data protection best practices.
Maintain records of data processing activities, risk assessments, and compliance reports.
Prepare reports for senior management on data protection compliance and risk levels.
Support internal and external audits related to data protection.
Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Information Security, Law, or Business Administration.
At least 6 years of experience in data protection, risk management, or a related field.
Experience in business continuity planning and crisis management.
