Job SummaryThe Director of Campus Safety & Security is responsible for the overall security of the School campus, students, faculty, staff and visitors. The position reports to the Chief Financial &Operating Officer and will collaborate with Operations leadership, Senior Leadership Team staff and other employees in overseeing all aspects of campus security operations for our indoor and outdoor locations including the development and implementation of security policies, procedures, and programs. This position will play a crucial role in maintaining a safe and secure environment for MICDS students, faculty, staff, and visitors while balancing an open and welcoming atmosphere with high expectations for safety and security.
Essential FunctionsSecurity Strategy and Planning:
Conduct regular security assessments and risk analyses to identify potential vulnerabilities and areas for improvement.
Develop and implement comprehensive security strategies and plans to safeguard the campus, students, and staff and reduce risk.
Security Operations Management
Evaluate optimal safety and security measures utilizing technology solutions, staffing, and outsourcing.
Oversee the deployment of security personnel and resources to patrol and monitor campus grounds, buildings, and facilities to serve as a visible presence for response and outreach to our community.
Ensure adequate staffing levels, training, and coverage to maintain security and respond to emergencies effectively.
Supervise and coordinate the activities of the campus security team, including security officers and support staff.
Ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations including OSHA and the appropriate storage, use and disposal of hazardous materials and chemicals with applicable departments.
Manage administration and oversight including but not limited to budgeting, reporting, outsourcing, hiring, training, scheduling, supervising, and evaluating.
Emergency Response And Crisis Management
Develop and maintain emergency response plans and protocols for various scenarios, including natural disasters, medical emergencies, and security threats.
Coordinate with local law enforcement, emergency services, and other relevant agencies to respond to emergencies and manage crisis situations.
Conduct training exercises and drills to prepare campus personnel for emergency situations and ensure effective response and coordination.
