Job Summary:
The Director of Cyber Security will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing an organization’s cybersecurity strategy. This individual will lead a team of cybersecurity professionals and collaborate with other departments to safeguard the company’s information assets, ensuring the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of all data. The Director will also be responsible for staying current on the latest cybersecurity threats and technologies and ensuring compliance with regulatory and industry standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership:Develop and execute the organization’s cybersecurity strategy and vision, ensuring alignment with business goals and risk management objectives.
Risk Management:Identify, assess, and mitigate cybersecurity risks, developing plans to manage potential vulnerabilities and incidents.
Incident Response & Management:Oversee the cybersecurity incident response process, ensuring quick identification, containment, and remediation of security breaches or attacks.
Compliance & Standards:Ensure adherence to legal, regulatory, and industry standards (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA, ISO 27001), and lead audits and assessments.
Security Architecture:Design and implement security systems and infrastructure to safeguard against cyber threats and ensure data protection.
Collaboration & Communication:Work closely with senior management, IT teams, and other departments to ensure cybersecurity protocols are integrated into all organizational processes.
Team Leadership:Lead and mentor a team of cybersecurity professionals, ensuring their continuous professional development and creating a proactive security culture across the organization.
Budget Management:Oversee the cybersecurity department’s budget, ensuring efficient use of resources, and make recommendations for future investment in security technologies.
Training & Awareness:Develop and conduct training programs to increase cybersecurity awareness across the organization, fostering a security-conscious culture.
Monitoring & Reporting:Continuously monitor security metrics and reports, presenting findings and improvements to senior leadership.
Qualifications:
Education:Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or related field (Master’s degree preferred).
Experience:Minimum of 8-10 years in IT and cybersecurity roles, with at least 5 years in a leadership or management capacity.
Certifications:Industry certifications such as CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional), CISM (Certified Information Security Manager), or CISA (Certified Information Systems Auditor) are highly preferred.
Technical Skills:In-depth knowledge of security technologies (e.g., firewalls, encryption, IDS/IPS), risk management tools, incident response, and disaster recovery planning.
Soft Skills:Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills; ability to work well under pressure and manage multiple tasks.
Analytical Skills:Expertise in risk assessment, vulnerability management, and threat modeling.
Preferred Skills:
Experience with cloud security and securing hybrid IT environments.
Knowledge of network protocols, security frameworks, and threat intelligence.
Familiarity with emerging security trends and technologies like AI-based security solutions, threat hunting, and zero-trust architectures.
