The Director of Emergency & Security Services is responsible for the oversight and implementation of all five phases (prevention, preparedness, mitigation, response & recovery) of emergency management, access control, and security coordination for the CU Denver campus. The range of tasks covers vendor management with our Allied Security team, training and coordination for campus awareness, guidance and consultation for campus and community event coordination, commencement safety activities, Continuity of Operations planning, preparation of institutional plans and reports, RAVE campus alerts and other communications such as website updates, fire and life safety audits, facilitation of the Emergency Operations Committee, and oversight of the access control systems for the CU Denver facilities. The incumbent is the primary emergency and security expert for the CU Denver campus.

Director of Emergency & Security ServicesWhat you will do:

Outreach and partnership with campus leaders on development and maintenance of emergency management awareness and continuity of operations plans

Develop building-specific liaison networks, communications and emergency plans

Facilitate the Emergency Operations Committee (and physical location EOC) and incident command structure (ICS) for campus operations, when needed.

Prepare campus training curricula and delivery for campus-wide and targeted training, including table-top exercises and executive readiness.

Serve as point of contact for campus events and associated preparedness planning, including security needs assessment and associated Emergency Action Plans.

Ensure campus preparedness cabinets, kits, and materials remain current and accessible.

Partner with University Communications and OIT on website updates, Rave Alerts platform and messaging, distribution lists, message templates, and access control to sensitive sites.

Coordinate fire and life safety activities, including fire evacuation drills and equipment testing.

Respond, as appropriate, to campus protests or demonstrations, to safeguard personnel and property in CU Denver facilities.

Establish and maintain effective relationships with Anschutz and AHEC partners and participate in CU system-wide liaison events.
