How You’ll Support Our Mission!As the Director of Infrastructure, you will lead teams to ensure the health, scalability, reliability, and resiliency of ESO’s mission-critical applications and systems. This role requires collaboration with Engineering leadership across our applications and products as well as Security and IT departments to maintain a reliable computing environment, delivering quality processes, and controls. This requires strong business and technical knowledge, an understanding of various server, storage, network and cloud platforms in use, and the current and future state of the company and the industry.

You will lead a team of dedicated Engineers and Infrastructure professionals to build highly available and observable systems. You will not only be responsible for managing the present state, with a proven track record of successful cloud infrastructure management but also required to think strategically to shape and create our future as part of the Engineering leadership. Your ability to collaborate and communicate with key stakeholders to develop and execute to achievable plans is paramount. The ideal candidate will provide leadership, vision, and hands-on expertise to ensure the stability, security, and efficiency of our infrastructure.

ESO’s infrastructure runs predominately in Azure with a combination of IaaS, PaaS and Serverless technologies. You should be familiar with modern DevOps patterns and metrics to help teams increase deployment frequency while reducing change failures and have a strong understanding of Infrastructure as Code recipes that prevent configuration drift between environments.

Technical aptitude is important for this position but above all else, we seek leaders who can truly develop high-performing teams. You are expected to lead from the front, with clear vision, direction and communication skills that enable our people to do their best work in an environment where teamwork shines.

This role reports to the SVP of Engineering and is based in our Belfast Office.

What You’ll Be Doing:

Recruit, hire and retain A+ talent across our North American and UK teams.

Translate product and engineering goals into cloud infrastructure strategy, developing and executing against plans to modernise our cloud environments and improve our security posture aligned with the company’s goals and growth objectives.

Manage operational engineering teams responsible for incident response and technical escalations.

Liaise with software engineering teams to facilitate cloud infrastructure work aligned to product roadmap initiatives.

Be accountable for defining and/or improving methods for configuration management, incident management, problem management, change management, release management, service level management, and availability management in collaboration with Engineering & Security Leadership.

Be responsible for responding to outages and incidents.

Ensure that robust monitoring, alerting, and observability solutions are in place to proactively diagnose and remediate system issues.

Establish and maintain Service Level Objectives and Service Level Indicators for critical systems, inclusive of security Service Level Agreements for operational patching and vulnerability management.

Ensure the availability, performance, and security of infrastructure components, including servers, networks, and storage systems.
