This is a hybrid role to be based from of our Atlanta, GA office (Rent HQ) or our Seattle, WA office (Redfin HQ). You will be required to be in office on Tuesdays and Wednesdays and work from home the remaining days.

As the Director of Security at Redfin, you will be responsible for defining, evangelizing, and implementing a security strategy for Redfin and its subsidiaries including, but not limited to, NIST compliance, CSIRT vulnerability management and threat intelligence, security architecture. application security, and security technology.
You will play a critical role in protecting Redfin’s customers and employees from the full spectrum of security threats and response. You will define a vision and lead the people required to translate that vision into reality. You will engage the broader employee population to become champions for security.
You must have excellent written and verbal communication skills, great presence, strong attention to detail, and the ability to effectively communicate and present to all levels of the Company including – and most importantly – at the senior executive level. Additionally, you must work well under pressure, and have the ability to easily navigate ambiguity and change. Key to being successful in this role is the ability to influence, collaborate, and empower individuals.
The Role
You will champion Redfin’s security strategy collaborating with the organization’s key partners to establish the vision ensuring the mitigation of risk and the protection of internal data, customer data, and intellectual property.
You will define the security organization objectives and priorities and ensure discovered risks and recommended mitigation strategies are delivered.
You will drive oversight of all activities related to IT compliance, focusing specifically on Information Security, Risk Management and IT Disaster recovery and Business Continuity.
You will mentor and inspire the security team to continually develop skills, capabilities and partnerships across the organization.
You will represent security posture to Redfin’s senior leadership team.
About You
You have 10+ years of security experience developing and leading large enterprise wide corporate security, risk management, and other related programs.
You have a Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering or equivalent required. Master’s or advanced degree desired
You have demonstrated success as a security leader in a consumer facing business of substantial scale and complexity.
You have in-depth understanding of all related compliance issues in a consumer business to include Privacy, GDPR, CCPA, SOX, NIST, etc.
You have demonstrated understanding of the use of data and analytics in breach detection, monitoring and forensics of the security environment.
You have deep expertise in audit and assessment methodologies, procedures, and policies that relate to information networks, systems and applications.
You have strong verbal and written communication skills, especially in the areas of presentation and interaction with people at all levels across the organization.
You are able to inspire investment from the broader population of employees to ensure active participation and championing of key security initiatives.
