Job Description

The Director of Security assigned to an Office Building directs and coordinates activities relating to protecting, safeguarding, and securing company and client assets, employees, invitees, and others. The Director of Security will ensure that established goals and objectives are accomplished with prescribed priorities, within time limitations, and fiscal responsibilities.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

SPECIFIC FUNCTIONS of JOB

Design, implement and monitor security policies, procedures, and programs.

Supervise scheduling of Security Officers.

Eliminate overtime if possible through effective scheduling techniques and coordination.

Create and maintain a proactive approach to effective counseling and employee discipline.

Plan, examine, analyze, evaluate and supervise security operations, inclusive of physical security assets and security personnel.

Prepare reports and records for the management team.

Lead business meetings and give updates on projects to the client.

Evaluate current procedures, practices, and precedents for accomplishing client activities and functions relative to security.

Identify and resolve security-related problems.

Develop preventative security programs, including the succession planning of future leaders.

Assist in the preparation of emergency management and contingency planning.

Manage audit compliance and standardization to ensure quality control.

All other duties, as assigned.

COMPETENCIES

Knowledge of contract security business practices, cultures, and norms.

Able to manage security operations to include physical security, scheduling, payroll, training, etc.

Strong project management skills.

Able to interact with and influence senior management to further the security programs.

Sound judgment and decision-making ability.

Able to formulate action plans for process improvement initiatives based on the analysis of complex data.

Able to adapt to changes in the external environment and organization.
