Director – Security Jobs in Arlington, TX at Arlington Independent School District
ROLE AND PURPOSE: The Director of Security is responsible for overseeing all safety and security operations within the district, including managing security personnel, and coordinating emergency response plans. This will include planning, training, and supervision of the Security Department.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Certification:
Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Criminal Justice or Law Enforcement or equivalent training and education.
Minimum Experience:
Five years law enforcement
SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
Experience in safety and security administration and implementation
Prior supervisory experience
Prior training experience
Public school experience preferred
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
I. INSTRUCTIONAL MANAGEMENT
Promotes positive school and community relations.
Provides management oversight and coordination for the security department.
Supports the academic goals and objectives of the district.
II. SCHOOL/ORGANIZATION CLIMATE
Models behavior that promotes a positive organizational and school climate.
Communicates and promotes high expectations for security staff in a supportive way; provides proper recognition of excellence and achievement.
III. SCHOOL/ORGANIZATIONAL IMPROVEMENT
Oversee revising and updating the Security Department Standard Operating Procedures Manual.
Developing and conducting training courses for school district personnel with regards to school safety and security.
Maintain the latest knowledge of all current state, local and district laws and rules that govern the proper administration of school district security.
Develop the Security Department work schedule, working with school administrators to maximize security coverage
Coordinate security at athletic events and extra-curricular activities
Coordinate security response to crises in collaboration with the campus/department leadership and the Communications Department.
Coordinate all bus and campus metal detectors and routine K-9 exercises
Review reports of criminal activity and other investigations generated by assigned staff and take or recommend appropriate action
IV. ADMINISTRATION FISCAL/FACILITIES MANAGEMENT:
Supervises the preparations of district-wide security assignments and responses.
Prepare and administer the Security Department budget.
Collaborate with Transportation to review driver records.
Works with the Director of Purchasing to prepare bids for items to be purchased on an annual basis.
Recommends purchases of security vehicles for the district in accordance with district policies and procedures.
V. SCHOOL/COMMUNITY RELATIONS
Serve on the District Crisis Team and Safety Committee and execute all associated duties and requirements.
Establish and maintain an environment that is conducive to positive staff morale.
Foster collegiality and team building among staff, encouraging their active involvement in decision-making.
Liaison with local law enforcement agencies on safety and security related issues that may impact the district.
Communicate effectively with campus and department leadership.
Serve on the Districts Incident Command Team

VII. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Provides leadership, training and supervision for all security personnel.
Evaluates the performance of security personnel.
Regularly reviews and advises others regarding job performance standards in the security department
