Duties

The major duties of the Facility Services Assistant position include, but are not limited to, the following:

Assist in the asset identification and inventory including attached equipment/features, condition assessment, cost estimating, work order generation, and life cycle information.

Create and update purchase requests within the maintenance division.

Evaluate planned and actual cost of routine work orders and updates as required.

Assist with the annual review, closeout, and setup of numerous routine maintenance work orders for inclusion in operational budget.

Assist members of the maintenance division with tasks to include, but not limited to, travel, reporting, hiring, and purchasing.

Identify, define, and report to upper management, problems and possible contingencies that could create issues with the input and tracking of the required assessment data.

U.S. Citizenship required.

Appointment subject to background investigation and favorable adjudication.

Meet Selective Service Registration Act requirement for males.

You will be required to wear a uniform and comply with the National Park Service uniform standards. A uniform allowance will be provided.

You may be required to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and overtime.

If you are a new employee or supervisor in the Federal government, you will be required to complete a one-year probationary period.

You may be required to travel overnight away from home up to 1 night per month. You must obtain a government charge card for travel purposes.

You may be required to complete training and obtain/maintain a government charge card with travel and/or purchase authority.

Qualifications

Credit will be given for all appropriate qualifying experience. To receive credit for experience, your resumeMUSTclearly indicate the nature of the duties and responsibilities for each position, starting and ending dates of employment (month/year), and the resume must reflect full and/or part-time or total number of hours worked (i.e., work 40+ hours a week, rather than indicating full-time). If part-time, the hours must be annotated to be able to pro-rate the amount of qualified specialized experience.

To qualify for this position at the GS-06 grade level, you must possess the following minimum qualifications by close of the announcement:

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:

At least one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-05 grade level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors). This experience includes activities such as: Providing technical support in tracking and managing facilities operations and maintenance including building maintenance, repair, and restoration; planning maintenance activities for a park, recreational area, or similar operation; collecting and accounting for fees and working with technology and software used in revenue and fee management. You must include hours per week worked.
