Job Overview:
We are seeking experienced G Licensed Security Officers for a Broward County Transit (BCT) bus terminal in Pompano Beach, FL. Guards will be responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment for patrons, ensuring pathways remain clear, and reporting any disturbances or security concerns to BCT supervisors and law enforcement.
Responsibilities:
Monitor activity at the bus terminal to prevent safety hazards.
Ensure bus entrances, exits, and lanes are not obstructed by patrons.
Clear pathways by issuing verbal warnings to loiterers and trespassers.
Report disorderly individuals to BCT supervisors and police for removal—no physical contact with patrons or their belongings is permitted.
Remain vigilant in preventing security threats, including active shooter situations.
Observe and report any suspicious activity or security violations.
Respond to medical emergencies and notify the appropriate authorities.
Complete daily activity logs and incident reports for all emergencies and notable incidents.
Enforce all BCT security policies and procedures while maintaining a professional presence.
Requirements:
Must possess a valid Florida G Security License.
Must have or be eligible to obtain a Broward County Security Badge (applicants with a badge are encouraged to apply).
Broward County Badge Requirements:
Must have held a G License for at least two years.
Must provide proof of two annual firearm recertifications (2023 & 2024 OR 2024 & 2025).
Must have a valid CPR certification (can be obtained through the office if not already certified).
Must have an Active Shooter Training Certificate (can be obtained through the office if not already certified).
Must have a high school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
Must be able to pass a background check.
Must have at least two years of experience as a security officer.
Firearm Requirements:
Officers must carry a Glock 19 or Glock 17—no other firearm models are permitted.
No additional equipment is allowed (e.g., no mace, baton, handcuffs, tasers, or other weapons).
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous experience in public transportation security or transit environments.
Strong verbal communication and de-escalation skills.
Ability to remain calm and professional in high-stress situations.
