Axos Bank has opened an exciting leadership role and is seeking an experienced, First Vice President (FVP) of Cybersecurity to lead and strengthen our cybersecurity program in a fast-paced, high-intensity work environment. This role requires a passionate, and committed cyber security professional who thrives under pressure, is deeply dedicated to safeguarding the bank’s critical systems and data and is driven to make a lasting impact on the organization’s security posture. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing the development and implementation of a comprehensive cyber security program to protect the bank’s information assets, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and mitigating cyber risks. You will work closely with senior leadership to align cyber security initiatives with business objectives and foster a culture of security awareness across the organization. This position will be 100%onsitewith no remote or hybrid availability. Office locations include: San Diego, Irvine, Las Vegas, Kansas City, Denver, Salt Lake City.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and mentor a team of cybersecurity professionals, fostering skill development and performance excellence.
Oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of security policies, procedures, and controls to protect the bank’s information assets.
Manage and enhance the organization’s Security Operations Center (SOC) for continuous monitoring and incident response.
Conduct regular risk assessments and vulnerability analyses to identify potential threats and develop mitigation strategies.
Engage in hands-on work, including configuring security tools, performing security assessments, and responding to security incidents.
Build partnerships with IT, Engineering, Risk Management, and other departments to embed cybersecurity into all operations.
Lead incident response efforts, including monitoring, detecting, and responding to security incidents, conducting thorough investigations, and implementing corrective actions.
Oversee the evaluation, selection, and implementation of cutting-edge cybersecurity tools and technologies.
Stay current with emerging cyber threats, technologies, and industry trends to continuously enhance the bank’s security posture.
Qualifications:
Passion for cyber security and a commitment to making a positive impact in a fast-paced, intense work environment.
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Security, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
Minimum of 10 years of experience in cyber security, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
Strong knowledge of cyber security frameworks, standards, and regulations.
Proven experience in developing and implementing cyber security strategies and programs.
Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and senior leadership.
Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CISM are highly desirable.
