Full Job Description

FDC Installation Technicians are responsible for the installation of FDC provided equipment as well as any site work necessary to create necessary infrastructure and integration of FDC equipment with on-site equipment or utilities. The duties of an Installation Technician include traveling to customers’ jobsites, installing equipment, suggesting areas for installation, troubleshooting, and providing customers with operating instructions.

Installation Technicians’ duties may include traveling to customers’ homes or place of business, installing equipment, troubleshooting problems with existing equipment, testing connections, providing user instructions to customers, and cleaning up after the job is complete.

A successful Installation Technician will have sound electrical and mechanical knowledge and enjoy performing tasks with their hands. They should be able to climb ladders and work in confined spaces for an extended period, be able to use a wide range of resources to solve problems and feel comfortable working alone and in a team. They should have experience with basic hand, power, and diagnostic tools, and should be physically fit to lift heavy equipment. Ultimately, a top-class Installation Technician provides expert installation services and dedicated support to all customers.

Installation Technician Responsibilities:

Engaging in ongoing educational opportunities to update job knowledge.

Reading and understanding product schematics and assembly instructions.

Practice safe working techniques.

Traveling to customers’ jobsite.

Assembling, installing, repairing, troubleshooting, and maintaining gate, door, parking, and various other equipment such as gate operators, automated doors, parking equipment, access control equipment, etc.

Installing and testing products, equipment, and machinery and providing instructions to customers on the proper usage of their product.

Sourcing or fabricating replacement parts for electronic systems.

Basic welding abilities for steel and aluminum ARC and MIG welding.

Ensuring all power and manual tools are operated in accordance with health and safety regulations.

Interpreting drawings, installation manuals, and instructions in order to perform duties

Following written, verbal, and telephonic instructions.

Attending regular training workshops.

Suggesting areas where equipment should be set up and where conduits should be placed.

Basic troubleshooting of problems with newly installed equipment.

Testing old and new installation connections.

Providing customers with verbal and written operating instructions for new equipment.

Maintaining FDC Tools & Equipment.

Cleaning up after the job is complete.

Recording and maintaining stock levels.

Completing all necessary service and project documentation such as Service Ticket, Daily Installation Report, Action Request, Repair Quote, Equipment ID Tags, etc.

Maintaining the work vehicle.

Providing training and supervision for new technicians and apprentices.

Promoting the company’s services.

Maintaining and expanding mechanical and technical skills.
