Job Function:
This position responsible for planning, design, implementation and maintenance of the Port’s information technology (IT) systems, including local and county-wide wide area networks, application and data servers, workstations, communications systems ciber security protection and backup solutions, user training and helpdesk support.
Ensure that Information Technology standards, procedures and processes are developed, implemented and maintained, in order to guarantee the functioning and sustainability of Dar es Salaam port.
Key Requirements:
Leads development and implementation processes for the organization’s IT systems and department.
Develops and implements business continuity protocols to minimize disruption to business operations in the event of emergency situations or data loss.
Ensure system availability for Dar es Salaam terminal, and 24/7 support of production system services to ensure the highest standards of availability, resilience, integrity and performance required for TOS application (Zodiac CT & GC), CCS & auxiliary systems like VMT/HHT, RFID, OCR, Web Portals, Weight Scale, TRA (Revenue Authority), TANCIS (Customs), Bank Integrations
Experience in implementing Gate Automation and PDS Integration.
Translating high-level demands into detailed requirements and collaborating with Group Technology to implement them effectively.
First line to fix problems with the TOS, eg. when TOS is down the whole terminal is down which is a huge business risk; and related end-points, Integration –API.
Establishes efficiency and efficacy standards, providing recommendations for improvement of IT infrastructure.
Manages all internal IT hardware & software requirements.
Plan maintenance schedules. (OS, Firewall, Antivirus updates, Backup of all systems).
Analyzes IT infrastructure and systems performance to assess operating costs, productivity levels, upgrade requirements, and other metrics and needs.
Oversees security of systems, networks, and enterprise information.
Ensure for all new project and system change requests, that a thorough risk assessment is conducted to determine the interdependencies between projects and the impact proposed changes may have on seemingly unrelated processes and systems.
Facilitates IT security audits or investigations devise plans to address open audit action items.
Perform Disaster Recovery (DR) drill and ensure that the application is functioning properly during any catastrophic event. Develops and maintains relationships with external IT vendors and service providers.
