Job Summary
Provide security detail as outlined in the post orders and establish working relationships with customers, local law enforcement, and fire departments. Security personnel will always perform job duties with a constant awareness of surroundings, making note of all activity that takes place in the assigned area. Security Officers must maintain a professional image and always demonstrate excellent customer service.
Basic Functions
Control of entrances and movement of pedestrian and vehicle traffic.
Patrol of buildings and perimeters.
Escort of material and personnel.
Inspection of security and fire exposures.
Special assignments.
Responsibilities
Duties may vary depending on department size, organizational structure, geographic location, and post assignments. Reasonable accommodations may be made for certain ADA requirements. Overall, the general function of officers is to provide security as described below (duties may vary depending on post orders):
Be on time and report to post in full uniform.
Maintain a professional image, greeting customers, visitors, and employees politely and friendly.
Stay updated on all revisions to post orders and general information provided by the customer and AFS.
Patrol physical property or maintain a fixed post, reporting suspicious activity and investigating incidents and crimes.
Monitor cameras or equipment as outlined in the post orders.
Know emergency policies, procedures, and regulations to respond effectively to alarms, incidents, and emergencies.
Complete Daily Activity Reports, Log Book entries, Incident Reports, and other relevant documentation.
Recommend safety and loss prevention improvements to management.
Be familiar with life safety systems, fire panels, CCTV, and other equipment to perform job duties, ensuring their safe operation.
Ensure compliance with training and guidelines set by AFS and regulatory agencies.
Communicate daily with Security Supervisor regarding new issues or updates.
