Loss Prevention Detective

Summary:

The Loss Prevention Detective is key to safeguarding company assets, preventing and minimizing theft, and reducing shortages and fraud. This position will be responsible for monitoring company facilities through camera systems and routine in-person rounds of the facilities. The Loss Prevention Specialist will be responsible for monitoring employee break areas and work areas for theft. This position requires attention to detail, and the ability to work discreetly and efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

Day to Day Duties:

● During locations opening hours

○ Clock in

○ Unlock doors

○ Turn off alarms

○ Turn on lights

○ Perform a walkthrough of the facility to ensure no items have been stowed improperly

● Throughout the day

○ Travel to various locations as assigned

○ Patrol locations to look for stowed items

○ Check dumpster areas and exit doors for items

○ Monitor employee lockers and perform inspections as needed

○ Monitor metal detectors at employee entrance and exit

○ Monitoring camera surveillance systems

○ Investigate instances of theft, fraud, or other suspicious activities

○ Prepare detailed reports documenting incidents, investigations, and any other relevant information.

○ Check receipts

○ Monitor inventory levels

● Closing the store

○ Perform a walkthrough of the locations to ensure no items have been stowed improperly

○ Turn off all lights

○ Set the alarm

○ Lock all doors

○ Clock out

Responsibilities:

● Identifying and recommending systems to minimize loss of merchandise or company assets

● Monitors inventory to identify theft or shortages

● Investigate suspicious employee activity

● Conducting periodic testing of alarm and video surveillance systems

● Conducting periodic inspections of facilities to ensure surveillance and security equipment is functioning properly

● Preparing reports on effectiveness of established prevention measures

● Maintaining accurate records of all security-related activities

● Collaborate with other departments to address security concerns and implement effective solutions

● Monitoring locations to detect suspicious behavior

● Adhering to loss prevention policies

● Providing training and guidance to employees on theft prevention techniques and company best practices

● Fostering a culture of vigilance and awareness throughout the organization

● Notifying manager if other employees do not take appropriate breaks or clock in and out correctly

● Notifying Human Resources of any theft

● Reporting employee misconduct to the manager or Human Resources

● Showing up to each shift on time

● Submitting time off requests to the manager no less than two weeks from the desired date

● Working overtime shifts as necessary

● Attending all training and safety meetings

● Maintaining a safe working environment for all team members

● Taking breaks and lunches on time according to state law

● Communicating promptly with the manager any sick days, late arrivals, and requests for time off

● Filling out the missed punch form if clock in/out is done incorrectly

● Completing and complying with discrimination and sexual harassment training

Qualifications:

● Leadership skills

● Ability to lift up to 70 lbs

● Proven experience in loss prevention, security, or a related field

● Strong observational skills and attention to detail

● Ability to operate a computer and surveillance systems

● Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment

● Excellent project management and analytical skills

● Knowledge of retail operations and loss prevention strategies and procedures

● Ability to travel to assigned locations

Education:

● High school diploma

● Basic math, reading, and writing skills

Pay:

$24.00 – $27.00 / hour
