Job Description

Join Northern Illinois Food Bank as a Network & Security Administrator, where your expertise will help design, implement, and maintain a hybrid network infrastructure integrating Azure cloud environments with physical switches and routers across four locations. This full-time role based in Geneva offers an opportunity to work closely with senior engineers to ensure a secure, scalable, and reliable infrastructure, applying Azure best practices and hybrid networking principles.

Responsibilities include:

Design, configure, and implement hybrid networks combining Azure VNets with on-premises equipment.

Configure and maintain physical network devices to ensure seamless connectivity.

Implement secure connections using Azure Express Route or VPN gateways.

Deploy Azure-native security tools like Azure Firewall and Network Security Groups.

Manage on-premises security measures including firewalls and IDS/IPS.

Manage hybrid identity with Azure Active Directory and secure resource access.

Monitor network performance and troubleshoot connectivity issues.

Perform routine maintenance on physical network devices.

Apply Azure Well-Architected Framework principles for optimal deployment.

Ensure compliance with regulatory standards such as HIPAA, GDPR, ISO 27001.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate and document network configurations.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent experience.

1-3 years in IT management or similar, preferably in a nonprofit.

Basic networking knowledge (TCP/IP, DNS, VLANs, routing).

Preferred certifications: AZ-900, Azure Network Engineer, CCNA, or similar.

Experience with Azure networking components and configuring switches/routers.

Understanding of cybersecurity principles and Azure Security tools.

Strong problem-solving, attention to detail, and communication skills.
