TLS Security Management is seeking ONCALL Security Officers to multiple contracts in Washington, DC. The company is looking for experienced Security Officers who can ensure the safety and security. The position will be critical in maintaining a secure and welcoming atmosphere for the clients employees and customers as they enter the property.
The ideal candidate should have a strong background in public safety, along with a proven history of situational awareness and providing exceptional customer experiences. Your responsibilities will include monitoring the premises, controlling access, and responding to any security-related incidents or emergencies that may occur. Key Responsibilities:
– Conduct regular patrols and surveillance of the government property to detect any suspicious activity or potential security breaches.
– Monitor and control access to the property, ensuring that only authorized personnel and visitors are granted entry.
– Respond promptly to any emergency situations or security incidents, taking appropriate action to mitigate risks and ensure the safety of all individuals on the premises.

– Collaborate closely with local law enforcement agencies and government officials to coordinate security efforts and share relevant information.
– Undergo regular training and certification to stay up-to-date with the latest security protocols and best practices.
Minimum Hiring Qualification:
To be considered for the position of Security Officer (SO) with our agency, applicants must first meet the minimum qualifications established by the District of Columbia Municipal Regulations (DCMR) Title 6A, Chapter 11, as well as our own internal hiring standards at TLS.
The current requirements are as follows:
The position requires applicants to be at least 18 years old and have reliable transportation to and from the workplace.
Candidates must be U.S. citizens, proficient in reading, writing, and speaking English, and hold a valid Armed Special Police Officer certification and license.
A high school diploma, GED, or equivalent is mandatory, and applicants must undergo a criminal background investigation to determine good moral character as required by DC Title 6a.
Successful completion of security officer training is necessary, along with a minimum of 3 years of experience as an Security Officer or in a similar security role.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities, and familiarity with government security protocols are required.
Applicants must demonstrate a commitment to integrity, professionalism, and ethical conduct. They must also be free from any physical, emotional, or mental conditions that could compromise their ability to perform the duties of a Security Officer.
Candidates must pass a 10-panel drug screen and a medical physical exam to be deemed “fit for duty”.
Hiring preference is given to applicants with college credits, prior military service, or prior law enforcement experience, but will be considered on a case-by-case basis and at the discretion of TLS.
Selection of Candidates
Our agency’s pre-employment selection process can be completed in less than forty (40) calendar days, and it consists of the following phases:
Hiring Process
The hiring process involves several steps:
1. Submission of a resume by the applicant.
2. Initial interview with the applicant.
3. Conditional offer of employment extended to the applicant.
4. Background investigation, including verification of employment history, personal character references, criminal history at the federal, state, and local levels, motor vehicle history (if applicable), education records, military records (if applicable), medical records, and citizenship status.
5. Completion of a medical physical examination by a licensed medical examiner, with the applicant being approved as “fit for duty.”
6. Completion of a 10-panel drug test by a licensed medical laboratory, with negative drug results.
7. Any other requirements determined necessary by the department.
Once an offer of employment has been sent by Human Resources (HR) to the applicant, the applicant has five (5) business days to accept or decline the offer. TLS primarily uses email notifications to communicate with applicants, so applicants should regularly check their inboxes, including junk/spam folders, for updates.
If the offer is declined, the applicant is no longer considered for hiring. If the applicant accepts the employment offer, a hire date will be set for the applicant to attend new hire orientation at the organization’s headquarters. During the eight (8) hour orientation, the new hire will:
1. Meet with an executive team member attend a to learn about the history and mission of TLS Management Group.
2. Complete all new hire documents, such as employment verification, tax forms, direct deposit form, emergency contact form, and any additional policy documents.
3. Receive a policy and procedure handbook.
4. Receive login credentials for the organization’s email, payroll, scheduling, communication, and other systems.
5. Receive uniforms and duty equipment.
6. Have their employee photo taken.
7. Enroll in the organization’s training academy.
All new hires are placed on a 180-day probationary period to evaluate the employee’s performance and adherence to policies and procedures. During the employee’s probation period, they will attend the TLS Training Academy.
Wages
The position being offered is part of a union, with a wage rate of $24.02 per hour, along with an additional $5.03 per hour for health and welfare benefits.

Computer Skills
General computer literacy and proficiency required. Must be able to communicate using electronic devices.
Must be able to use a computer, phone, or tablet to generate detailed, well-written security reports. Proficient in using standard office productivity software such as word processing, spreadsheets, and presentation tools. Capable of navigating the internet, sending and receiving emails, and managing digital files and documents.
Strong typing skills and accuracy are essential to ensure clear and concise reporting. Familiarity with security-specific software or applications is preferred, but not required. A willingness to learn new technologies and adapt to changing systems is crucial in this role.
