Alberta University of the Arts (AUArts) is looking for an Operations Manager, Facilities and Security to join the Campus Operations team.
The Alberta University of the Arts is one of only four major art, craft and design focused Universities in Canada. Our internationally recognized programs and state-of-the-art facilities offer our 1,100 students a hands-on, studio-based education that leads to a Bachelor of Fine Arts, a Bachelor of Design, and an MFA in Craft Media. AUArts has deep roots in Calgary’s creative community and our alumni have had an impact on creativity around the world. Alberta University of the Arts will be celebrating its centennial in 2026.
This is a full-time permanent position starting as soon as possible. Hours of work are 35 hours per week, 7 hours per day. On-call support evenings and weekends as required.

Reporting to the Director, Campus Operations, The Manager is responsible for ensuring a safe, secure, and compliant environment for the staff, students, and visitors of Alberta University of the Arts (AUArts). This role oversees day-to-day campus operations, including Health, Safety, Security, and Environmental (HSSE) management, and ensures compliance with policies and legislative requirements.
The Manager oversees all aspects of the University Emergency Response Plan (ERP), manages security operations, and supervises access control systems. Additionally, they administer facilities programs such as waste management and locker services and provide comprehensive support for project management within the Campus Operations Department, ensuring efficient coordination, timely execution, and alignment with departmental goals.
The role also includes supervisory responsibilities for the Campus Operations Assistant, casual staff, and contractors, both internal and external.
Key ResponsibilitiesSecurity and Emergency Management
Responsible for the management of contract security staff, including scheduling, creating standing orders, and conducting orientation and training. Ensure exceptional customer service is provided to both staff and students. Contribute to staff discipline and dismissal decisions in collaboration with the service provider.
Develops, maintains, and oversees the institutions Emergency Response Plan (ERP). Works closely with external consultants as required to ensure effectiveness and compliance
