Part-Time (On-Call) Security Officer Jobs in Richmond, VA at GOVERNORS SCHOOL
(ON-CALL POSITION) GRADE 10-
GENERAL DESCRIPTION: Targeted average work hours are 18-25 per week with a flexible schedule when school is in session. Assists in the security and supervision of students, staff, and visitors in school facilities, and on the grounds and parking lots. Monitors/controls vehicular traffic and enforces parking regulations. Assists medical staff and renders First Aid and CPR when necessary. Assists in the control of persons visiting the building. Assists in the orderly maintenance of school activities, verifies and issues visitor permits and student hall/lunch passes. Patrols the facility and grounds on a regular basis and corrects or reports safety and security issues. Participates in investigations, completes reports, and testifies in hearings and court proceedings as needed/required. Performs other related duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS: Education, training, or experience sufficient to execute the required duties. Good to excellent communication, organizational, and public relations skills are required. The ability to maintain effective working relationships with school officials, faculty, students, first responders, and the public is essential. Must pass a background investigation and police record check. Must complete a Department of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS) School Security Officer (SSO) Certification Course within 6 months of hire. Must be reliable, in good to excellent physical condition, and able to stand, sit, or walk for extended periods. Must possess a valid Virginia driver’s license, reliable transportation, and telephone.
SALARY RANGE: $17.34-$19.50 per hour to start based on experience and/or education. Additional income can be earned through events using school facilities requiring security.
