Responsible for the safety and security of the Cleveland Community College community. Patrolling and surveillance of campus environment. Requires day, evening, and weekend hours.
Essential Duties Summary
Patrols campus to prevent and detect signs of intrusion and ensure security of doors, windows, and gates.
Answer alarms and investigates disturbances.
Monitor and authorize entrance and departure of employees, visitors, and other persons to guard against theft and maintain security of premises.
Write reports of daily activities and irregularities, such as equipment or property damage, theft, presence of unauthorized persons, or unusual occurrences.
Call police or fire departments in case of emergency, such as fire or presence of unauthorized persons.
Circulate among visitors, students, staff, and faculty through-out the campus to preserve order and protect property.
Warn persons of rule infractions or violations and apprehend or evict violators from campus if necessary.
Escort or drive motor vehicle to transport individuals to specified locations and to provide personal protection.
Inspect and adjust security systems, equipment, and machinery to ensure operational use and to detect evidence of tampering.
Drive and transport money and valuables to prevent theft and ensure safe delivery.
Enforce campus traffic regulations.
Secure the facilities after evening classes.
Assist motorist by jump-starting vehicles.
Participate in professional and staff development opportunities.
Performs other duties as assigned and other related duties incident to the work described herein.
Salary Range Based on experience. Starting hourly rate $15.00. Required Qualifications
Valid driver’s license
Ability to be self-directed and to complete work independently
Ability to work effectively in a team environment
Preferred Qualifications
Experience and skills in security or law enforcement work preferred.
Physical Demands
ADA requirements for this position include critical thinking skills with the ability to process information, analyze data, make assessments, and exercise good judgment to make decisions; possess ease of mobility within the work environment and other areas of campus; and effective use of all forms of communication (oral, visual, auditory), including use of computers. Be able to lift weights up to 10 to 20 pounds on a regular basis. Ability to patrol campus on foot and stand for extended periods of time.
