Position Overview
The Person nel Security Specialist I position reviews and analyzes investigative reports to correctly identify and evaluate derogatory and mitigating information, making recommendations regarding an individual’s eligibility for Department of Energy (DOE) access authorization. The Specialist I will develop a comprehensive knowledge of personnel security principles and apply them to evaluate derogatory cases.
Responsibilities
Attend and complete professional development training related to Personnel Security.
Ensure investigative coverage completeness; analyze reports, prepare detailed case histories, and make determinations with recommendations for further action.
Produce professionally written, grammatically correct reports, including investigations, reinvestigations, incident reports, and letters of interrogatory.
Accurately enter data into required personnel security databases.
Perform all other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or 1-3 years of relevant experience in data analysis for personnel security.
Excellent technical writing skills for clear, concise, and error-free reports.
Ability to analyze data, resolve discrepancies, and synthesize key findings.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Ability to work independently in a deadline-driven environment.
Effective time management and professional communication skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and data entry.
Active DOE Q clearance or ability to obtain one.
