We’re seeking an experienced Physical Security Officer who is excited and ready to be part of something bigger: safeguarding the infrastructure that keeps our community thriving.

This is not your typical security role. As an EWEB Physical Security Officer, you’ll be part of a high-performing, dedicated team committed to proactive service, continuous improvement, and making a meaningful impact. You’ll work with a high degree of independence at the intersection of security and utility operations – applying modern security techniques and technology to ensure the safety of our workforce and the reliability of the systems our customers depend on every day.

This is an unarmed security position focused on prevention, safety, and service. If you’re looking for more than just a job—if you’re ready to be part of a team that protects vital community infrastructure and supports a mission of public service—then we want to hear from you.

What Makes This Opportunity Different

Extensive Training and Continuous Professional Development: We invest in your success and growth with a robust training program that goes beyond industry standards. You’ll develop specialized knowledge in utility protection, crisis response, and technological tools.
In-Depth, Strategic Work: Your day-to-day duties will include real-time threat analysis, critical thinking, and complex problem-solving that support essential utility operations and the safety of EWEB employees.
Mission-Driven Impact: Your work directly contributes to our vision of being a trusted local utility—one that inspires confidence and investment from the very community we serve.

Key Responsibilities

Protect utility infrastructure through proactive patrolling, responding to calls for service, and the strategic use of digital video management systems and physical access control systems.
Respond to and professionally resolve incidents while employing community-oriented prevention and problem-solving strategies, including addressing and deescalating challenging interactions while patrolling alone.
Detect, analyze, and alert others of any incidents which may impact employees, property, reliability, or resiliency of the utility. These may range from extreme weather conditions, technical failures, civil unrest, crime, terror, and personnel issues.
Gather, analyze, and report data related to potential threats, and assist in the development of mitigation strategies to preserve utility continuity and public safety.
Provide operational support for major incidents, special events, outages, and emergency response efforts, ensuring reliability and resilience in times of need. Physical Security Officers may be required to work extra hours during emergency situations.
Monitor environmental, social, and technical developments that may impact utility operations and take prompt action where necessary.
Collaborate with various departments to support division-wide risk mitigation planning and implementation.

Familiarity with or the ability to learn to operate security technologies such as access control systems, digital video management systems, radios, and other communication devices.
A collaborative attitude and an openness to receiving and giving peer-to-peer feedback.
Flexibility and adaptability – you’re comfortable with change and innovation, and you’re eager to adopt new tools, processes, technologies, and approaches to your work.
