Physical Security Specialist Jobs in Seattle, WA at Bezos Academy

As a Security Specialist focused on physical security at Bezos Academy, you will support the Security Director and the security program for our growing network of tuition-free, Montessori-inspired preschools in under-resourced areas. You will work closely with multiple teams to research and implement safety and security best practices, services, and training to protect our students, staff, and facilities in each of our school’s communities.

You are a mission-driven professional who is eager to roll-up your sleeves, dig in, build processes, drive initiatives, promote improvements, write policies and standards, and regularly update leadership on progress and outcomes. Your top priority will be to ensure all Bezos Academy sites are equipped to operate safely by leading overall security initiatives, training, audits, and communications with staff and leaders alike. You will also continuously review our emergency preparedness plans and potential risk factors to uphold the highest standards for both students and employees as we expand our network of schools in multiple states.

LOCATION

Phoenix, Arizona, Seattle, Washington, or Tacoma, Washington within drivable distance of a Bezos Academy preschool (please see our website for school locations)
Relocation support is available for those willing to relocate to Seattle, WA, or Phoenix, AZ

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

This is a full-time, benefits-eligible, exempt (salaried) position.
The pay range for this position, across Arizona and Washington, is $64,000 – $119,000 per year. The upper portion of the salary range is typically reserved for existing employees who demonstrate strong performance over time. Starting salary will vary by location, qualifications, and prior experience; during the interview process, candidates will learn the starting salary range applicable for their location.
This role includes 15 paid days of vacation, 4 days of paid personal time off, 7 paid days of sick (care) time, 9 paid holidays, 5 paid days off for an organization-wide winter break, and additional time off if required by applicable law. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
Five or more years of progressive experience in security operations, including providing hands-on support across multiple sites simultaneously
Experience in physical security, risk management, and communications
Experience working in or alongside a security operations center that includes camera monitoring, video analytics, operational communications, and emergency response
Experience communicating key updates and responding to communities, school staff, senior leadership, cross functional teams, and other members of the operations team
Valid state driver’s license, clean motor vehicle records, personal auto insurance (at least minimum coverage under applicable law), and access to a reliable vehicle
Ability to travel up to 25% of the time, including some national travel

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

FEMA IS-100 and IS-200
American Society for Industrial Security (ASIS) – Associate Protection Professional (APP), Physical Security Professional (PSP), or Certified Protection Professional (CPP)
Nationally recognized CPR/first aid certification
Working knowledge of physical security systems, technologies, and platforms
Proven experience supporting multiple security workflows
Prior experience managing or working alongside outside vendor services
Demonstrated ability to engage and influence people at all levels and backgrounds
Willingness to obtain professional certification in conflict management, workplace violence, and multiple theoretical and practical FEMA courses as part of continued professional development
