Duties
* Perform a broad range of law enforcement, investigation, crime
prevention
, traffic control, and community policing.
* Respond to and investigate offences against persons and property.
* Respond to volatile situations such as terrorist attacks, hostage situations, and armed robbery.
* Question and apprehend suspects utilizing the appropriate level of authorized force.
* Investigate traffic accidents to include the collection of technical data and interview subjects with knowledge of the accident or incident.
* Conduct traffic and security patrols to enforce federal, state, Department of Defense, Department of the Army and local regulations.
* Write incident and activity reports.
* Serve as a desk sergeant performing operation and administrative duties.
* Direct, escort and protect VIP’s and visitors.
* Provide installation access control. Requirements Conditions of Employment
* Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation. Requires Secret Clearance (Tier
3).
* Applicants must successfully graduate from the United States Army Civilian Police Academy within 12 months of hire date; unless incumbent has a current approved waiver/exception from the Office of the Provost Marshal General (OPMG).
* Incumbent must be able to successfully pass training, certification and qualification requirements related to law enforcement work functions as prescribed by policy, regulations or statutes.
* Incumbent must meet the requirements of AR 190-56 (The Army Civilian Police and Security Guard Program). Prior to appointment you must agree in writing to adhere to these conditions of employment.
* This is a Testing Designated Position (TDP) and is covered by the Alcohol and Drug Abuse
Prevention
and Control Program. IAW AR 600-85, a DA 5019 Condition of Employment must be signed for mandatory drug testing.
* The 1996 Lautenberg Amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968 covers this position. Persons convicted of a misdemeanor or felony crime of domestic violence are not eligible for this position.
* This position is designated as Mission Essential (IAW DODI 3024.42 and DTM 17-004) during Inclement Weather Conditions or other designed/identified emergency conditions.
* Incumbent must possess a valid state driver’s license and be able to obtain and maintain a government motor vehicle operator’s license.
* Hours of work is subject to irregular and/or rotating shifts, evenings, nights, weekends and holidays. Incumbent is required to work overtime as directed and is subject to recall for emergency overtime.
* Official Temporary Duty (TDY) up to 10% of the time may be required.
* Incumbent is subject to possible civil action due to improper exercises of authority or injudicious use of force in the apprehension or detention of individuals.
* Incumbent will be required to successfully complete a Police Officer Field Training Program within 6 months upon initial assignment to law enforcement duties and maintain certification.
