Job Summary
Under general supervision, the Surveillance Investigator investigates suspicious workers’ compensation claims from various corporate and public-sector clients. The job duties include monitoring and videotaping individuals during their normal activities and completing detailed reports.
The position is both journalistic and investigative, focusing on obtaining quality video footage and detailed reports of activities captured. Knowledge of privacy guidelines, government rules, and regulations while operating a motor vehicle is required.
The Surveillance Investigator must have good intuition and the ability to process multiple mitigating factors during investigations. Decisions should be accurate, timely, and maintain confidentiality.
Responsibilities
Obtain quality covert video surveillance for litigation
Prepare detailed reports on subjects’ activities during surveillance
Use surveillance and investigative tactics to gather information
Complete assignments promptly and update case information online
Maintain communication with Operations Manager and coordinate logistics
Drive 8-10 hours daily due to investigation nature
Travel time is paid; employees stay on cases until at least 10 hours
Other duties as assigned
Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree or military experience in Criminal Justice, Business Administration, or related fields preferred
Ability to work independently and adapt to changing priorities
Effective verbal and written communication skills
Excellent driving skills
Strong computer skills
Ability to pass DMV, physical, and background checks
Availability to start as early as 5:00 am
Must be a morning person, available on weekends and holidays
Critical-thinking skills
Willingness to travel out of town occasionally
