STARTING DATE: 2024-2025 School YearREPORTS TO: Human Services SupervisorWORK YEAR: 185 days as per Board-adopted calendarSALARY RANGE: Appropriate step on Certified Salary Schedule – Commensurate with experience and educationQUALIFICATIONS INCLUDE BUT NOT LIMITED TO: Valid/Appropriate Ohio teaching license/certificate or ability to obtain As listed below or any acceptable combination of the following: A four-year degree in Public Safety/Criminal Justice or related field or An associates degree in a Public Safety/Criminal Justice or related field with a minimum of three years experience in the field A minimum of five years experience in the field The ability to become certified as an OPOTA instructor for certain private security and/or corrections classes in OPOTA, especially in subject control A thorough understanding of OPOTA and Criminal Justice curriculum/competencies and procedures to prepare students to successfully complete the program and pass webxams, specific credentials and OPOTA preparation skills Military experience preferred but not necessary Ability to instruct high school students using a combination of subject matter and experience designed to prepare students for career choices and post-secondary educational options Demonstrated ability to individualize instruction and work with students having a variety of needs and abilities Excellent planning, organizational and problem-solving skills Excellent oral and written communications skills with students / parents / employers / educators Demonstrated understanding of Ohios graduation expectations and of Ohio Public Safety Content Standards Ability to develop cooperative relationships with area employers and establish an advisory committee made up of representatives from the communities we serve Teaching experience in Public Safety preferred Volunteerism and competition skills are appreciated Comprehensive understanding of corrections, ORC, American Criminal Justice and the court system Ability to teach and/or willingness to be trained to teach Law and Public Safety credentials, as set forth by the Ohio Department of Education & WorkforceRESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT NOT LIMITED TO: Assist with development, planning and implementation of appropriate lessons using the course of study and academic standards and Career Tech competencies Design appropriate assessments for students and vary instructional strategies Enforce and maintain proper classroom rules for discipline and management Work collaboratively and effectively with educators, students, parents and form positive relationships with business and industry representatives Assist in preparing students for both academic and Career Tech competency tests Provide leadership in student management, classroom instruction, curriculum development, and career/technical club activities Work under the guidelines of Pentas Mission Statement and goals Attend district and state professional development events Remain free of any non-prescribed controlled substance or alcohol abuse in the workplace throughout his/her employment in the district Assume any other responsibilities as assigned by the Board of Education, Career and Technical Supervisor, Director, or designee Ability to work with the Senior Criminal Justice Instructor with recruitment, field experience, scheduling and providing students with scenario-based experiencesDEADLINE: Open until filled.
