Position Details

Location: Illinois Masonic Medical Center (IMMC);
Chicago’s North Side, near Wrigleyville Neighborhood

Employment Type: Full Time; 2nd Shift

Hours: 3pm-11:30pm

Compensation and Benefits

$5,000 Sign-On Bonus offered for External Hires through June 2025, paid in two installments: 50% at 90 days and 50% after 6 months.

Major Responsibilities

Provide security services with professionalism, fairness, and compassion, adhering to policies, procedures, and training.

Inspire confidence through a professional appearance and demeanor; remain alert, observant, and ethical.

Perform interior and exterior patrols to ensure safety, including inspections, audits, valuables management, and contraband searches.

Respond to workplace violence, service calls, and emergencies, including de-escalation and use of force when necessary.

Investigate incidents, complete reports, and coordinate with law enforcement agencies.

Conduct security awareness education and liaise with departments and external agencies.

Maintain current training standards and certifications, including radio communications, de-escalation, hemorrhage control, CPR, and use of department-issued equipment.

Assist with exterior traffic and crowd control, including parking enforcement and vehicular assistance.

Utilize interview tactics and perform community-oriented patrols.

Licensure and Certification Requirements

Healthcare Security Certification (CHSO) within two years of appointment.

Armed Guard License (if applicable), NIMS Certification, FOID or CCW license, and other state-specific licenses.

Stop the Bleed Certification within one year of hire.

Valid driver’s license; certification in TASER use within 90 days.

Educational and Experience Requirements

High school diploma or GED.

Typically 1 year of experience in security, public safety, or customer service roles involving emergent situations.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

High emotional intelligence and compassionate responses.

Ability to remain calm under pressure and work collaboratively.

Strong communication skills, physical fitness, and ability to operate firearms and equipment safely.

Physical Requirements

and Working Conditions

Ability to sit, stand, walk, drive, lift up to 35 lbs, and operate firearms safely.

Correctable 20/20 vision; exposure to hazards; ability to handle stressful and emotionally charged situations.

Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge of behavioral threat assessment, use of force review, and environmental crime prevention.
