Position Summary

The Oregon Convention Center is one of the largest convention facilities in the Pacific Northwest, attracting out-of-town visitors to national conventions, tradeshows and meetings, and local people to special events. The convention center’s roughly 150 employees host more than 1 million visitors each year.

The Oregon Convention Center is searching for a Public Safety Supervisor. This position will supervise our 24/7 Public Safety Department. As the Public Safety Supervisor, this position must be able to perform all the essential job duties listed below; however, this list is not intended to include all of the specific tasks which an employee in this position may be expected to perform. The position supervises and supports public safety services to the venue, staff, clients, attendees, and events at the Oregon Convention Center.

As thePublic SafetySupervisor,thisrolewill:

Hire, train, coach, and supervise Public Safety Agents including evaluating staff performance. Plan, assign, and coordinates staff activities and workloads to help foster a safe environment

Work directly and collaboratively with other departments (such as Facilities, Guest Experience, and Event Services) to determine scheduling and security needs for shows and events. Establish monthly staffing schedules to address daily security needs. Arrange coverage for call-offs or additions and communicates schedule changes

Lead response to escalated critical incidents and emergencies and supervises and directs crowd management measures

Assist with safety and security policy development as directed by the Director of Public Safety

Conduct and manage pre-event risk assessments

Track and schedule training in life safety and regulatory safety training, including DPSST security training, CPR, and blood-born pathogens training

Review incident reports, manage keys, monitor and review video surveillance and communication equipment

Work directly with Law Enforcement agencies, including but not limited to (Police, FBI, DHS, etc.) Work directly with temporary, variable-hour, or contracted security agents as required to enhance staffing
