Safety and Security Manager
Direct Supervisor: Director of Finance and Operations
FLSA: Exempt
Type: Full-Time Staff Employee

The Safety and Security Manager is a people-oriented employee who advances and supports a safe and secure environment for students, employees, and visitors by helping to develop, establish, and enforce safety and security policies. Works closely with the leadership team and emergency service partners.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Develop a comprehensive security/safety program by maintaining updated policies and procedures according to the school emergency preparedness plan
Establish internal controls, conduct inspections to identify risks, report potential hazards to appropriate departments
Coordinate school safety compliance with federal, state, and local regulations by reviewing existing and new requirements and implement and oversee school wide adherence to requirements
Conducts and coordinates safety, security and emergency preparedness training by creatively implementing best practices while preserving the school’s welcoming environment
Recommend safety and security equipment purchases and upgrades
Maintain records of drill/incident logs and conducts drills on a regular basis
Organize and attend safety committee and other school meetings/trainings
Serve as a liaison and foster a positive working relationship with local emergency service agencies and other organizations
Keep a visible presence on campus and provide facility security supervision as needed
Monitor the interior and exterior of campus both physically and with the camera system
Manage traffic control, especially during student arrival and dismissal
Assist in emergency situations and aid emergency agencies in conducting investigations
Work with the Business Office for budgeting and ordering
Participate in school life and demonstrate an interest and passion for professional development
Perform other duties as assigned

Skills, Knowledge, and Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree and training in tactical response, emergency management, etc.
Approved Police Academy or equivalent, National Fire Academy, Emergency Management Institute, Security Training Programs or other comparable training programs
Knowledge of Emergency Management, security and alarm systems, relevant emergency service agencies -Familiarity with the I LoveYouGuys SRP/SRM a plus
A life-long learner who enhances their skills using technology to maintain high standards of performance
Excellent time management skills and ability to switch between tasks and prioritize work
Attention to detail and problem-solving skills
Strong organizational and planning skills
Ability to respond calmly and assertively in potential crisis and dangerous situations
Aptitude to learn new systems, software, and platforms
Proficiency in a Windows environment and with Google Workspace/MS Office
High level of confidentiality and discretion

The Safety and Security Manager is a 12-month position.

Pay: $85,000.00 – $95,000.00 per year
