Description
Develops, implements, and monitors safety and security programs to ensure a safe and secure school environment; collaborates with school staff, students, families, public safety officials, and community members to implement programs and enforce school safety and security rules; oversees security staff.
Qualifications
Required
Any combination of education and experience equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in law enforcement, or a related field.
Three (3) years of experience in safety and security.
Advanced degree(s) beyond the minimum degree requirement in a relevant field may be considered for some experience.
Must successfully complete compulsory certification training approved by the Virginia Center for School Safety within sixty (60) days of hire and renew certification annually.
Applicants must be at least 21 years old at the time of appointment.
Knowledge of local, county, and state rules and regulations requiring an alcohol-, drug-, weapons- and tobacco-free environment.
Knowledge regarding student safety and conduct.
Ability to enforce those regulations.
Ability to relate to, communicate with, and supervise staff in order to help establish and maintain an appropriate and safe school environment.
Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with students, staff, families, and the public.
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
Preferred
Two (2) years of supervisory experience.

$56,486 – $96,121
