Currently, we are looking for a Safety and Security Specialist to join the ArcBest team. The Safety and Security Specialist manages the field safety meeting program, supervise driver alerts, service center inspection responses for completion and the roadside inspection program to include submitting Data-Q challenges to assure compliance. This position serves as the department’s liaison with government agencies. The Safety and Security Specialist also directs field management in response to incidents of hazardous material response or accident investigation as well as the after-hours on-call representative for the department responsible for directing field personnel in the handling of all incidents reported after-hours to the department hotline.

Your contribution may include:

Approve and process state truck driving championship entries.
Analyze data and reports to determine terminals for selection for placement within the DAFW program for accident and injury prevention.
Analyze accident trends and determine root cause.
Provide OSHA documentation for OSHA inspections.
Provide monthly accident and injury reports for departments.
Submit daily report on FMCSA portal and download roadside inspection data.
Update CSA scores monthly for department meetings.
Maintain Flash training packets for employees and vendors.
Collect safety meeting attendance percentages and work with service center managers for 100% compliance.
Review and process Supervision driver CDL alerts.
Maintain service center inspection reports and follow-up for completion of 2-week responses.
Assign risk terminals to field safety managers for corrective action.
Research all roadside inspection reports and mediate with government agencies.
Contest and work to mitigate unjust citations or violations assigned to the company or driver through submission of Data-Q challenges.
Manage incidents and direct field personnel involving hazardous material spills and accident investigations.
Daily audit and follow up with management for inspections citing hours of service violations.
Provide information and support to other department managers, as needed.
Maintain a positive attitude in a highly intense environment.
Work in a team setting to accomplish department goals.
Other duties and projects, as assigned.

As a Safety and Security Specialist, you will be a member of the ArcBest Safety and Compliance team in Fort Smith, AR. Your hours will be Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm, with irregular hours that may occur depending on workload.

Education: Associate’s degree, preferred. Experience will be considered in lieu of formal education.

Experience: Minimum, one year’s experience analyzing accident and injury trends to provide data for accident and injury reductions, preferred. Minimum, one year’s experience submitting Data-Q’s to the FMCSA and event planning and organizing.

Computer Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite. Strong knowledge in data entry, processing reports, and maintain files.

Other Requirements: Training in industrial safety and hazardous material regulations. Knowledge of DOT, OSHA, and EPA rules and regulations.
