Job Summary and Qualifications
The goal of the Safety & Security Manager is to oversee a Safety Management Program designed to ensure the safety and well-being of all patients, employees, physicians, and visitors, as well as the assets of the facility. The Manager is responsible for establishing and maintaining positive relationships with all employees and customers of the medical center. Participates in Performance Improvement activities to assure continuous Quality Improvement. Maintains cultural and diversity awareness when dealing with patients, visitors, co-workers and other customers. Promotes a supportive, team-work oriented environment. Fulfills departmental responsibilities with the long-range plan, mission, vision and values of Horizon.
What you will do in this role:
Function as the primary contact in all situations involving emergency preparedness; >50% of this role involves emergency preparedness and management and initiatives.
Help develop, implement, and monitor hospital wide safety management programs.
Provide oversite and help ensure that the hospital is compliant with The Joint Commission, Federal EPA, OSHA, and state regulations.
Work with the Director of Plant Operations to ensure that all EC/LS binders are accurate and up to date.
Serve as the Safety Committee Chair and consult with staff on hospital wide safety and security issues, waste management control and hazardous waste management.
Collaborate with the Director of Plant Operations to develop, implement, and monitor the safety and training programs for the facility and engineering department.
Respond to employee safety and security concerns by examining safety issues, preparing corrective actions and ensuring appropriate follow-up.
Report to the Environment of care committee on safety related issues.
Assist departments with developing safety policies and procedures.
As the Emergency Preparedness leader, work with the incident command on all emergency situations.
Coordinate and implement all corporate safety and security initiatives.
Successfully manage the Security personnel, including scheduling of Security Officers.
Analyze vulnerability and risk to the hospital and communicate recommendations to appropriate personnel.
Assume operational duties and responsibilities of Security Office when appropriate.
Ensure that hospital security regulations are enforced and that criminal violations and security problems are investigated and appropriately reported to management and law enforcement agencies.
Evaluate capability, performance, and efficiency; complete formal performance evaluations as required.
Coordinate scheduling of security staff ensuring required coverage at all times; oversee the payroll timekeeping process.
Maintain training records for the department and ensure appropriate training is given to critical staff.
What qualifications you will need:
Bachelor of Science degree with 3+ years of hospital regulatory experience or Associate’s degree with 10+ years of experience in hospital regulatory requirements.
Experience with life safety and engineering preferred.
Certified Security Officer preferred.
Experience on personal computers using spreadsheets and word processing, or work under the direct supervision of someone who meets these qualifications.
